Dandelions and Duality: A Path to Oneness

Duality is accepting another's reality. It doesn’t mean you have to agree with it or believe it—but you acknowledge that from their point of view, their perception is real. This simple act of acceptance can shift relationships, soften conflict, and transform your inner world.

In today’s increasingly divided world, I choose to believe in duality. And I believe that embracing duality can ultimately lead us to unity. We’re at a tipping point, politically, culturally, and spiritually. But that doesn’t mean one perspective has to win or another has to fall apart. What I see coming is a beautiful meshing of perspectives—where clarity can emerge from coexistence, not collision.

A Weed or a Wish... You Decide

A few years back, I convinced my husband to join me in a little experiment: No Mow May. We let the dandelions bloom across our yard, golden and wild. I know it’s not the picture of a perfectly manicured lawn—and I’m okay with that. I actually love walking barefoot through the soft grass and feeling the earth beneath my feet. I'll take the dandelions with all my utopian wishes any day.

But I also get that for some people, our yard might look a bit unkept and that we don't take care of things. I can see how they might perceive that, but those people, probably don't really know us. By the same token, I can also appreciate the beauty of a well-kept golf course. I've walked barefoot on lush green grass and loved it. There’s value in both. That’s duality. Seeing both truths and recognizing the value in each.

Just like visual perception, your perspective on any event depends on the angle you see things. It reminds us that our actions ripple outward and touch others in ways we may never see. When we pause to understand another person’s reality, even if it’s totally different from ours, we’re not just creating duality—we’re nurturing oneness. Because acknowledging someone else’s truth doesn’t take away from your own—it adds dimension, depth, and connection.

It's kind of humbling to realize how much power each of us holds. Every word we speak, every action we take, even how we disagree—it all matters. It all ripples. And it can either pull us apart or bring us closer together.

This isn’t just about world peace or solving all the big divides out there. It’s about internal harmony. And maybe—just maybe—that’s how we get to peace in the bigger picture, too.

Duality. Acceptance. Unity. Oneness.
