Holistic Healing Glossary

Alchemist

A person devoted to transformation and inner growth. In spiritual healing, an alchemist symbolizes someone who transforms pain, experiences, and challenges into wisdom and healing.

Alchemy

Originally an ancient practice of transformation involving metals and elements, alchemy is now often used symbolically for personal and spiritual transformation. It represents turning suffering into growth and awareness.

Alignment

A state of balance between thoughts, emotions, actions, and values. Feeling aligned often creates greater peace, clarity, and emotional flow.

Affirmation

A positive statement repeated intentionally to support healing, mindset shifts, and self-belief.

Ancient Wisdom

Teachings and practices passed down through generations that focus on spirituality, healing, balance, and connection to nature.

Astrology

The study of planetary movements and their symbolic relationship to personality, energy, and life cycles.

Astronomy

The scientific study of stars, planets, galaxies, and the universe.

Aura

An energetic field believed to surround the body. Some traditions associate aura colors with emotional and spiritual states.

Awareness

The practice of becoming more conscious of thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and energy patterns.

Breathwork

Intentional breathing techniques used to calm the nervous system, release emotions, and increase awareness.

Chakras

Energy centers within the body believed to influence physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The seven primary chakras each relate to different aspects of healing and awareness.

Collective Energy

The shared emotional and energetic atmosphere created by groups, communities, or humanity as a whole.

Compassion

The practice of responding to suffering with kindness, empathy, and understanding.

Consciousness

Awareness of oneself, others, and the world. Spiritual traditions often explore expanded states of consciousness and connection.

Crystal Healing

A healing practice using gemstones and crystals believed to carry unique energetic properties.

Earthing

A mindfulness process that involves using nature and the Earth to better connect you to the present moment. It is the act of physically connecting with the Earth’s surface, often by walking barefoot on grass, sand, or soil. Earthing can support relaxation and nervous system balance.

Elements

The foundational energies of nature often represented as Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether or Spirit.

Empath

A person who deeply senses and absorbs the emotions and energies of others.

Energy Coding

A healing modality focused on identifying and shifting energetic imbalances, emotional patterns, and subconscious blocks within the body’s energy system.

Energy Healing

A broad term for healing practices that work with the body’s energetic field. These practices aim to restore balance and support emotional, spiritual, and physical wellness.

Ether

In ancient philosophy, ether was believed to be the subtle element connecting all things and filling the universe.

Faith

Trust or belief in something greater than oneself. Faith may be spiritual, religious, or deeply personal.

Flow State

A state of complete presence and natural focus where energy and actions feel effortless and connected.

Forest Bathing

A mindful practice of spending quiet, intentional time in nature, especially among trees. Forest bathing encourages calmness, presence, and emotional restoration.

Frequency

The energetic vibration carried by thoughts, emotions, environments, foods, and living beings.

Generational Healing
