There are places on this Earth that can take you to a state of pure bliss, where the beauty and energy of the land transcend everything we know. These are the sacred spaces and rare destinations where the air itself feels charged with something greater. I’ve had the privilege to travel many places in my life, and while it’s impossible to pick a single favorite, Arches National Park ranks at the top.
Like many, I had no real idea of the vastness and wonder of Utah. With its five national parks, this state knows how to preserve its landscapes in ways that honor the land’s deep, ancient soul.
At first glance, as you enter Arches, the seeming desolation of the sandstone might seem unremarkable. But if you look a little closer, and with the right light, the shades of orange and red become hypnotic, almost otherworldly. The more you immerse yourself in the park, the more you realize that these arch formations—ranging from delicate spans to towering structures—are a testament to an ancient past, one that was once underwater.
This vast desert landscape, where you now stand, was once the ocean floor. It’s a profound experience that evokes a deep sense of clarity—an awareness that connects you to the many stories of floods, from Noah’s ark to other ancient myths. You feel the weight of time, and in that moment, you come to understand not only how much we know, but how much we still don’t.
There’s an energy here, a remembrance of a forgotten age, that hums beneath the surface. Waves of ancient breath wash over you—not to ground you in the present, but to lift you, to help you see more clearly. It’s a feeling of being part of something vast, something that stretches far beyond the horizon.
And then, the magic of the park shifts again when night falls. The arches under the stars are a sight you’ll never forget. On a moonless night, the Milky Way spreads across the sky, a swirling river of stars older than the arches themselves. But with the moon, the landscape transforms entirely, taking on a Martian glow that transports you even further from this world and into the cosmos.

Arches National Park isn’t just a natural wonder; it’s a cosmic masterpiece. It’s a reminder of how interconnected everything is. It’ll leave you breathless, not just from the beauty, but from the feeling that your part of something much bigger than you can fully understand.
